Three years since August 5, 2019
Today marks three years since the Kashmiri people lost their limited autonomous status. On August 5, 2019, the president of India arbitrarily revoked Article 370 and 35A of the Indian constitution and suspended the Jammu and Kashmir constitution.
The Canadian government and media, as is the case across the international community, remain silent about India’s deliberate, rapid, draconian settler colonization.

Peaceful Protest for Kashmir
Join a peaceful rally in Mississauga (ON) dedicated to showing solidarity with Kashmiris. Canadian activists will protest the Indian government taking illegal actions against Kashmiris, including violating their fundamental human rights.

Khurram Parvez is a global human rights defender and Program Coordinator of the Jammu Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS), a civil liberties and human rights organization in disputed Indian Administered Jammu & Kashmir. He serves as the chairperson of the Asian Federation Against Involuntary Disappearances (AFAD) and is also a distinguished scholar (non-resident) at the Political Conflict, Gender and People’s Rights Initiative at the University of California, Berkeley.
On November 22, 202, he was arrested by the Indian state and is currently detained in New Delhi, more than 500 miles away from his home and support networks in Kashmir.
