“Canadian Charities and Palestinian Erasure” exposed in academic article, press conference and submissions to the UN

June 15, 2024

This week, the State Crime Journal published an article by Dr Miles Howe in regards to Zionist Philanthropy, with a case study regarding jgive.com and Mizrachi Organization of Canada. Dr. Howe also spoke at a presser held by NDP National Revenue Critic Ashton on June 13th.

As well Mizrachi, jgives and several other “charitable operations” and Canadian conduits were submitted to the United Nations for their consideration to add to the UN database of businesses complicit in supporting Israeli settlement.

Learn about the UN Call

Call for inputs on the mandate to produce a database of all business enterprises involved in certain activities in the Israeli settlements, June 12, 2024 submissions

Charitable operations and conduits at first glance, are most likely interpreted as transcending the boundaries of the data gathering exercise outlined in the current call-out.

However, we argue that such conduit activities are not peripheral to the pro-settlement, anti-Palestinian operations of Israeli recipients within the not-for-profit sector. Rather, the operations of an Im Tirtzu, an Ir David, or a Regavim – or any number of pro-settlement, anti-Palestinian, organizations listed on the jgive.com website – are dependent upon an international influx of capital and credibility that only the internationalization of the Israeli charitable sector can provide.

That the Mizrachi Organization of Canada’s operations transcends both the Canadian and international legal frameworks is well documented (see Howe 2024). Inclusion in the Database Pursuant to Human Rights Council Resolution 31/36 adds to the efforts already underway (see for example House of Commons 2024) to bring such illegal conduit activities back in line with a rules-based order.

Along with Mizrachi Organization of Canada and jgive.com, several other charitable operations and conduits were submitted to the United Nations for consideration in its June 12, 2024 call for business entities complicit with activities in Israeli settlements.
