Attempts were made to silence editor of the United Church of Canada’s Observer magazine, Rev. Dr. A.C. Forrest when in 1973 the United Church of Canada signed an agreement with B’nai Brith. This is an agreement that continues to be in place until today. This agreement was put in place primarily to silence Rev. Dr. Forrest about his writing on the United Nations Resolution 194, Right of Return, and his publication of The Unholy Land. It was also meant to squash the grassroots church support for Palestine.
The family of Rev. A. C. Forrest had indicated that his book, now out of print, could a few years ago be shared online by those wishing to do so. A request to the United Church of Canada to share Forrest’s THE UNHOLY LAND was ignored.

Read the United Church Canada’s current policy (which ignores the many of the grassroot resolutions ot the last half century).
Read Just Peace Advocates reponse to the United Church of Canada’s 2019 policy paper. This policy paper was meant to respond to the calls of the Palestinian Christians in 2017, but actually negates the call for BDS, says the call to name apartheid is unhelpful, and does not respond to the actual call made by Palestinian Christians. Of course this is not perhaps surprising, given the attempts to silence Rev. Dr. Forrest in the early 1970s, and given that the United Church of Canada did not respond to the 2009 Palestinian Kairos call.
