Canada Must Investigate Canadians who Served in the IDF
Find IDF Soldiers, Charge IDF Soldiers
Since he was appointed Friday more than 3000 individuals have written to Canada’s new attorney general/justice minister Gary Anandasangaree to ask him to investigate Canadians who may have violated Canada’s Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act and Foreign Enlistment Act. The letter writing campaign launched by Just Peace Advocates, Ontario Palestinian Rights Association and Canadian Foreign Policy Institute was spurred by the controversial new website Find IDF Soldiers, which details Canadians who’ve fought in the Israeli military.

Part of why Find IDF Soldiers has elicited so much concern from pro-Israel media is that it was launched as the Hind Rajab Foundation pursues Israeli soldiers in Brazil, Belgium and elsewhere.
On Tuesday lawyer Shane Martinez represented Canada’s branch of the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians at the London, England, launch of Global 195. It’s “a worldwide legal coalition dedicated to holding accountable Israeli and dual national individuals alleged to have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.”
“Any Canadian who has fought in Israel’s genocide in Gaza should be investigated under the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act”, noted Karen Rodman of Just Peace Advocates.
“Find IDF Soldiers highlights the legal exceptionalism granted Israel in Canada”, explained Yves Engler, a fellow at the Canadian Foreign Policy Institute. “It’s past time Canadian officials applied the Foreign Enlistment Act and Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act to Canadians assisting the Israeli military.”
