It is with much heart break that we share the news of the death of Nour Ali Mallah. Nour, the 23 year old daughter of Just Peace Advocates’ board member Ali Mallah, was commited to the ideals of truth and justice. We value her life as we do Ali’s friendship and are thinking of the family in this time. We write on behalf of Ali’s family, to thank you for the heartfelt support received from Ali’s wide and diverse circle of friends and comrades. The family is overwhelmed by the grief of Nour’s passing several week ago, and is grateful for the many messages they have received. |
Like her father, Nour was a fighter for justice. She was active at McMaster in Hamilton. She was one of the students who occupied Hamilton City Hall during defunding action in early December. She accompanied Desmond Cole to ensure his safety when he was being escorted out by police. One of our colleagues wrote to Ali “I met Nour just once or twice, in Hamilton, but retain a clear image of her sweetness, intensity, and charm–and I could see your pride in her, and at the same time recognize how deep the love was between this remarkable young woman and her loving father.” In loving memory of Nour Ali Mallah, we honour her and ask you to consider in making donations to “Operation Nour.” Monetary donations are welcomed to support the dire situation in Lebanon. In Canada, for tax receipts please send a snapshot of the deposit confirmation to Operationnour@gmail.com and follow up will take place with Islamic Humanitarian Service (IHR). Local donations of non-perishable food, clothing, household items, electronics and medical equipment can be made as indicated below. |
