As the global spotlight shifted to the U.S. election and University campuses quieted for the summer with the end of student encampments, the landmark ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ – July 19, 2024) on the illegality of the occupation of Palestine received less attention than it deserves.
This ruling could significantly shape global politics, trade relations, investment decisions, and diplomacy of UN member states vis-à-vis the Israel-Palestine conflict. Our webinar sought to bring this crucial ruling back into focus, examining its implications for international human rights advocacy in Palestine, and the legal obligations of Canada and its institutions, including universities, to comply with international law.
